Sustainable Lawn Replacement Rebates
https://santabarbaraca.gov/LawnRebateThe City’s Sustainable Lawn Replacement Rebate provides incentives to help offset the cost of replacing water-thirsty lawns and irrigation with water-wise plants and efficient irrigation. Projects must be approved in advance. Rebate amount is based upon square footage of turf removed.
The Watershed Works $2.00/square foot
Lawn replacement, irrigation efficiency retrofits (sprinkler to drip retrofit or eliminate), water wise plants (3 plants minimum per 100 square feet). No more than 25% of the rebated area may be permeable flagstones or gravel. The Watershed Works rebate requires disconnecting downspout(s) that currently direct rainwater into French drains to the street, or onto impervious paved surfaces, and redirecting the water to the landscape. Cover all planted area with 3 inches of mulch. Mulch and smart controller rebates available separately.- Single Family Residential and Multi-Family Residential (1-4 Units): $1,000 maximum rebate.
- Commercial, Multi-Family Residential (5+ Units): $2,000 per meter serving irrigation, maximum of $4,000 per property.
